Film Night

Guess what I just bought today? Twilight on DVD. OMG - I'm so excited. I loved the book, loved it so much and LOVE Edward Cullen, just love him.
I've just informed the family we'll be having a film night. My choice of film wasn't met with as much enthusiasm as I was expecting... but never mind - I'm sure they'll love it.

I hope the film is as good as the book... I've heard good things, so we'll see.

Holding On -

to the last days of summer whilst we can.

In Wales for the Bank Holiday weekend before we head back and prepare for the Autumn months.

I'm very busy with plans for the opening of my theatre school, play writing, sorting my book for my agent and of course my general theatre trips, not to mention counting pennies to see if we can get away for a sunny break in a few weeks and of course plans to move house next year.

It's all go.

But for now, for this minute at least I'm in Wales, pretending it's still summer and having a ball x

I met the lovely Paul Newbery for a coffee and a gossip today. He'd just come from an audition, he's always doing something, very pro active and inspiring to be around. I'm going to treat him to something from the Chocolate Cafe I've just discovered next time I see him.

Then I rushed to meet my friend Luke - who I'm co-writing a new play with. It was such a productive couple of hours, we were doing lots of character, plot, story work. We've gone through lots of ideas and themes and questioned everything we thought was good and now, well now I think we have the start of something really good and it already feels quite special. We're actually going to start writing it properly next week and I absolutely can't wait.

Keep you posted.

Hot Pants Girl

So, I go to my gym today ready for my salsa dance class. I'm getting ready and I'm already hot and flustered from rushing to get there.

Then this girl appears in the changing room and she's soooo tall and has legs up to her eyelashes. She's obviously aware that she is soooo toned and flippin' perfect. Anyway, her choice of gym wear is HOT PANTS! WTF? She looked perfect in them though. Grrr. My navy tracky bottoms looked hideous in comparison.

So with new determination to get my body to be like the long legged girl's, I rush to my salsa dance class - not glancing in the mirror as I do because I don't look like the hot pants girl!

Anyway, it seems I'm the only one who wants to look like the hot pants girl as I'm the only one who turns up for the class... so they cancel it. Nooooo!
I try my best in the gym and go on a machine instead. Mr Sally sets me up on a running machine and he asks me how many calories I hope to burn. 'Err, one hundred?'
He types in my chosen number and off I go running. Two minutes later I'm STILL RUNNING. OMG - it's the most boring thing in the whole world. I can't run, drink water, change a track on the ipod at the same time... how do people do it?!
So I get to twenty four calories and switch the stop button. Well, twenty four is a good start. I try an exercise bike, but that's just as boring. So I go for a swim and then we go home.

What a waste of time, I hope the class is on next week.

Speed Dates

So, I was stood outside the library today waiting for my friend Dan when a scally-drunk came over to me and said, 'Do you know love, if I saw you on an on-line dating site, I might give you a go.'
'Err, thanks.'
'So? Are you?'
'Am I what?'
'On any particular dating site?'
'No, I have a boyfriend.'
'Damn it... DAMN IT!' He actually started shouting and his friend dragged him off.

I don't know what I'm more bothered about... The fact if the DRUNK SCALLY saw me on an on-line dating site he MIGHT give me a go. MIGHT? Or the fact he seemed to think I'd be happy to accept being given a go by HIM. A drunk nutcase with no teeth.

Spring in my step? I think not!

My new writers teapot and mug! I love it!

We're home.
Ahh, very sad to leave today - but we're back in rainy Manchester and I'm ready for the week ahead, I've got LOADS of work to do.

Ooh, one more fun thing I bought on my break -

The theatre case Mr Sally bought me. I fell in love with it when we stumbled upon it in a little gift shop. 'What will you use it for?' Mr Sally asked.
'Err...' I thought quickly, not wanting to let it go. 'I've been looking for somewhere to store all my theatre programmes and bits and bobs.'

Our mini break at my mum and dads is over tomorrow - we're off home :(
It's been lovely. The first week we had extended family over, so we spent the week with them.
This week we've been to castles, seasides, woodlands... everywhere. Kites have been flown, ice creams eaten... Spending time with my lovely parents has been fab and cuddles from my cats has been lovely too. I'll be so sad to leave.

Some things I bought whilst here:

- A tripod for my camera. (Ooh, it's a good one. Big and sturdy!)
- 6 books (My TBR pile is getting HUGE).
- A teapot (I love drinking tea and have wanted a teapot for ages. Mr Sally bought me a red teapot with white dots yesterday and a matching tea cup!)
- A case (I need to take a pic of this to show you how wonderful it is. It's a case, with theatrical things all over it. I have no real need for it. Mr Sally asked what I'd put in it before he bought it me. I quickly thought and said... 'Well, I've been looking for something to keep all my theatre programmes in!' It's gorgeous.

We also had a film night every night at my mum and dads. We've watched all the Lord of the Rings. OMG - I know I'm like a million years behind, but they're fantastic films. I'll have to buy them now - oh and now I seem to have a renewed love for Orlando Bloom.

I have done no writing and no reading whilst I've been here. So I'm ready to get back in to it as I've got loads to do.

Hope everyone else is enjoying the summer and I'm looking forward to catching up with blogs next week.

PS: Ooh, wasn't X-Factor good tonight? I'm so pleased it's back. Daniel to win so far me thinks!

Camera Club

So, I'm really getting in to photography. It's a hobby and I'm still really learning, but I'm really enjoying it.
I'm thinking of buying the above camera. My dad has had this camera for about a year and loves it. I don't want to buy something really expensive whilst I learn.
Mr Sally thinks I should wait until Christmas as I guess he's probably thinking of me one, but I don't think I can wait.
I can't really afford it and need to watch my money at the moment, but...
Well let's just say if I find a bargain today whilst out shopping with my dad, I may have to snap it up.
Whilst I'm here on my hols at my parents house, I've suggested my dad and I make our own camera club and go out 'on location' with our cameras and tripods!

What a Week!

My extended family have gone home. It's been a lovely week - we've been kite flying every day - on the beach or park, we've been shopping, been to markets, tea shops, ice cream stops - it's been nothing but fun.

This is a pic of my dad and Mr Sally trying to get a kite in the air.

I'm hoping to go and see an old school friend tomorrow, we've not seen each other since school days, so it'll be lovely to catch up.

So much going on, I've not picked up a book or a pen for a week - so I need to get back in to that as I'm beginning to miss it.

Hope everyone else is having a lovely summer x

Family and Kites

Having a jolly good break in Wales. Some extended family are also here, so we're having much fun kite flying on the beach and things.

Gav (my bro) has sadly been made redundant again, bless him - he's not having the best of time lately - so fingers crossed he gets something soon. He's just joined a really good band, so at least something is going well!

That's all for now - more kite flying tomorrow - can't wait.

New Look

You've probably noticed I've changed the look of my blog (again)!
Anyway, as usual it's wiped everything in my side bars, so I'll get everything back up soon.

Hope everyone is having a nice week.
I'm in Wales with my family, having a lovely time. The sun is shining today, so I think we're going to hit the beach.

Snap Happy

I love taking photos. I'm quite new to it, but really enjoying snapping away. I'd like to upgrade my camera when I can afford it and maybe take a course in photography.

Anyway, I've come across this site where you can upload photos and blog about them etc.

Sally Four Eyes

News I forgot to tell you. I had an eye test on Friday. I haven't had one for years and I've lost the glasses I had.

Anyway, yes I need glasses. I chose some that look like these because the girl in the shop said they suited me. I'm getting used to them.
I only have to wear them for reading and when I'm on the computer.

Reading and Rest

I've just been looking at my overly crowded book shelves and wow, my TBR pile is getting huge. With my play and what not, I've not had chance to get stuck in to the pile but I seem to always have time to add to it!

Well, I've been reading and reading lots over the last couple of weeks. Mainly plays, and I've discovered some good ones.

I'm off to Wales for a week to stay with my mum and dad and I'm going to take a pile of books with me. I'm hoping there will be plenty of time on the sunny beach to sit and read.

Well, I did my first ever salsa dance class at my gym this week.

I've not done a dance class since my uni days and it nearly killed me. By the end I was purple. We learnt loads of steps and made them in to a routine. We did the routine a few times and applauded ourselves, then our teacher said. 'Shall we do it one more time before you go?'

My head was shouting,'NOOOOOOOOO!' But my face was nodding and saying, 'Yes, absolutely - I'd like nothing more.'

I left the class a deep shade of purple, sweating buckets... Mr Sally was waiting for me in the gym and laughed when he saw me. I drank all his water, went to the changing rooms, put my swimming costume on and jumped in to the pool. You could actually hear the water sizzle when I got in!

Anyway, to sum it up. I really enjoyed the class, I feel much better for doing it, I'm enjoying dancing again - so I'll definitely be going back.
Ground Breaking Gym News:
I may be having a go on one of those machine things the gym seems to have plenty of. Hmm, yes - I think I need to do something other than swimming, so I'm going to have a go.
I shall report back - that's if I make it back in one piece!

I have done loads of writing this week, so I'm very happy. Yesterday I met a friend I did a writing course with at Oldham Coliseum, both our plays were in the 24:7 Theatre Festival a couple of years ago too - his went on to great things. We decided to have a go at writing something together, inspired after watching so many wonderful plays in this years festival - so we met yesterday to see if we had any ideas and if we actually could write together.

Anyway, I'm pleased to say we had a fabulous afternoon. Ideas flowed and sparked other ideas which then sparked our final idea. We're so excited about it.
I don't want to say anything else yet, because the idea is so exciting and we haven't set anything in stone/paper yet - I'll tell you more soon.

I love writing on my own, I love being lost in my imagination tip-tapping away - but sometimes it's nice to work with someone else. It's nice to bounce ideas around and have a bit of support and some giggles along the way.
There are some writers that I wouldn't click with, but I'm pleased Luke and I have - I can't wait to see where this exciting journey takes us.

Chin Wag Tuesday

Another busy, day in the life of me!

I had four hours of freelancing to do today - which went surprisingly quickly. Then I rushed off to meet my lovely friend Paul Newbery for coffee, cake and a chin wag! It was lovely catching up. He's such a lovely, supportive friend - I always love catching up with him.

I've been to the gym today - no sign of the weirdo from last week - thank goodness, but the week is still young!
Oh, and tomorrow I'm actually going to do the salsa aerobics class I've been meaning to do since I joined almost a month ago. I'm a bit nervous of joining a new class on my own, but hopefully it will be good. OMG - what should I wear? What should I wear? Crisis alert.
I need to go and raid my wardrobe - bye!

PS: I read A Chorus Of Disapproval by Alan Ayckbourn today - it's FABULOUS. Now one of my favourite plays.

Monday Stuff

Oh my goodness... I bought the copy of Fat Pig today, sat in Waterstones with a coffee, started reading and didn't stop until I read it all.

What a fabulous play. Not the ending I was expecting, which is good. The play makes you laugh, but really think. I loved it.

Tomorrow I'm buying some Alan Aykbourn plays.

I'm trying to read and watch at least one play a week, if possible.

Jumble is coming along. I'm on scene three already. I'm taking myself off to town every morning and sitting in either the library or Starbucks and working until 5:30pm, it's really working. I get too distracted if I'm at home.

I have also been to the gym today, I swam loads - so feeling rather good and refreshed.
Happy Monday!

Fat Pig

I'll be treating myself to this play this week. I can't wait. I've already read half of it in Waterstones (I know it's wrong - but I haven't bent the cover back and I'll be buying it this week - if nobody else beat me to it!)

It had it's West End run last year and I missed it, I hope it's on again soon as I'd love to see it. But until then, I'll settle for reading it. It's a great play.
