Double Eek!

Not feeling 100% this week, but can't be off ill as I'm off for 2 weeks at the end of this week and I've got such a busy week - argh! Hate being ill.

Had a great teaching session with my class yesterday, we discussed characters a lot and it was nice to hear them discuss the play they'd seen last week with passion. All very good, the hour goes so quickly in that class. We always run over as I forget to look at my watch!

I'm nervous about watching my piece of writing being performed tomorrow - eek! I think the audience give feedback as well - double eek! Oh well, everything is a learning curve.
I'll keep you posted.

Right, I'm off to the day job. Have a good Tuesday x

Calm Before the Storm

I'm getting over a cold today, so although the sun is shining, I've stayed indoors to chill out as I know next week is BUSY.

As well as the day job, the evenings go something like this:

Monday - Teaching 8-9pm

Tuesday - At the Contact Theatre for a Spotlight On... evening.

Wednesday - A piece of my writing is being performed at the Contact Theatre's Verbally Challenged night.

Thursday - Off to Paul's to write our play (yes, we're writing together again!)

Friday - Possibly drive to Wales to my mum and dad's - or we may be going on Sat.

Phew, I'm shattered just thinking of it all! I'll keep you posted.

Bridesmaid Shopping!

Today I met my best friend Leah in Manchester - we (and her friend Catherine) shopped for mine and Catherine's Bridesmaid outfits.

We had a great day - even though I was full of a cold - we tried on loads of things and finally decided on the outfit below from Coast.
I'm so excited. I've never been a Bridesmaid before and I can't wait. Now I'm on a Bridesmaid diet (kind of). I just need to get in to shape, ready for June.

A Little Help From My Friends...

Last night's playwriting class was BRILLIANT and that's all thanks to my two lovely friends Paul and Mark.
Paul and I have been best mates since uni days and we wrote our first play together in 2005 and he's been in almost all of my plays. He's just moved from a city centre apartment to a gorge house in Worsley and is feeling all creative, so we're hopefully penning another play together soon, we're having a writers night on Thurs.

Mark was first cast in the play Paul and I wrote together in 2005 and he's been in almost all my plays since.

I loved their input to my class last night. They performed a scene from my last play BATTERED EGOS and really took time talking to the class about theatre, plays, actors. It was a great Q&A and I think the class got lots from it.

I was so grateful, I spent my class earnings on drinks in a swanky bar after, any excuse for a drink and a catch up!

I had so much fun, I forgot to take photos! So below are my two fave photos of them

Paul in my play BANG-BANG!
Mark and I at the after show party - after a successful run of BATTERED EGOS!

Love you guys!

Monday Stuff!

I can't believe it's Monday already! I'm in the library, catching an hour before work. I'm here printing scripts and planning tonight's playwriting class.

I'm really looking forward to tonight's class. I've got two friends coming along who are actors, they'll be performing a scene for the class and chatting to them about theatre and the life of an actor etc.
Thought the class could do with something a bit different other than me blabbering on!
Can't wait! I'll take pics and blog later!

Have a good Monday x

Woo-Hoo! Ray 'Snake-hips' Quinn has won Dancing n Ice!
I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but I've grown a slight obsession with him. Wow, he's brilliant. Such a fantastic performer and thoroughly deserved to win this years title.

I've heard he's going to play Danny in Grease, which is a perfect part for him.

Girls Night Out!

If you're looking for a giggle - catch this play if you can. It looks brilliantly hysterical. I'm hoping to catch it in Preston in May.

I never thought I'd see myself promoting anything with Abi Titmuss in - but the clip online has made me really want to see it.

Click here for a sneak peek of it!

Verbally Challenged

I've been asked to write for the Verbally Challenged night at the Contact Theatre for this month.

It's where five writers compete, we're given a topic/theme and write a ten minute piece. We hand our work over and the director and actors work on it, they then perform them on the night and the audience vote for their fave ones.

I did this a few years ago when it was called Flip the Script and I came second. But my scenes went on to be re-worked and BANG-BANG! was formed, my first ever play that got accepted in to the 24/7 Theatre Festival in Manchester.

I'm excited to be doing it again. The topic is 'Why do fools fall in love?' We have to start at the end and end at the beginning - and it typical Sally Lawton style, the idea I've been working on all week has now been pushed out of the way for a new and even better idea... so off I go with the new idea and see where it takes me.

The rough copy has to be handed in tomorrow! Eek, better get a move on!

Happy Mother's Day!

I have the BEST mum in the whole wide world.

Happy Mother's day, I love you MILLIONS and MILLIONS.

Wind Me Up!

Flippin' heck - I was so excited about getting back online last week and I've not been able to post anything all week. It's been one heck of a chaotic week.
To sum up.

- MONDAY - Day job, tea with Mr Sally then teaching my playwriting classes until 9pm.

- TUESDAY - Day job, meet my friend Christian for drinks, meet Gav and then off to the theatre for a play, after show drinks later, home around midnight.
- WEDNESDAY - Day job, meet Mr Sally and head to the bank for mortgage advice on moving to the Lake District, home, then back out for after show drinks until gone midnight again.
-THURSDAY - Freelance at my favourite marketing office until 6:00pm, meet Mr Sally, coffee in town then home for a take-away curry and beer!

-FRIDAY - Day job, clock watch all day and then meet Mr Sally and Gav at 4:00pm and we drive to Wales to my mum and dad's. My auntie has been really ill, she was in hospital last week, so I couldn't wait to get to her house and see her.

I've stayed in Wales, Mr Sally and Gav had to leave this afternoon as they were both in work tonight and collecting me tomorrow... phew - it's been a crazy week!

** New Blog Launch **

I've just launched a new blog called 'Woo-Hoo You!'

It's a place that offers nothing but support and fun times to creative people. The aim is to fill it full of interviews, reviews, information and fun and silly things!

We'll have interviews posted up by the end of the week. The first book review has just gone up and keep checking to see which creative person gets awarded the Woo-Hoo You! Shining Star Award.

Ooh, it's going to be so much fun!

So, if you're an actor, writer, artist, fashion designer, animator, musician... ANYTHING creative and want to be on the site, get in touch!

My Head is SPINNING!

Last night, Mr Sally, Gav and I met up with my uncle in Manchester. He split up with his wife (thank God - she was horrible) before Christmas and thankfully he's feeling all fab about his life now and wanted to meet us for drinks and a meal.

Mr Sally and I always go here for meals in between shows - it's called Spinningfields and we have a fab discount card, so we usually get 241 meals etc.

And we decided to go to one of our favourite restaurants: Strada.
The food was gorgeous, and the drinks flowed and flowed, along with the laughs. We looked at our watches and realised we'd been there for five hours!

The bill came, and it seems you can't use a 241 discount card on a weekend, oops! The bill was HUGE! Mr Sally said he'd pay for it and I thought 'Well, I'm not even going to argue this one!' It was practically a weeks wage for me! Eek!

We put Uncle G on to his bus at 1:45am and we got a cab home (which I paid for by the way!)

Mr Sally had to be in work at 9:00am today, I don't know how he did it because I couldn't even open my eyes to say bye and wish him a happy day!I didn't get up until 11:00am, which I HATE doing. The sun was shining through the window and I felt like rubbish. But I showered, dressed and went for a bit of a walk to find the nearest Co-Op style shop (I'm still getting used to where I live), and now I feel all refreshed, which is good as I've got lots of work to do today.

Oh, it's so nice being back on-line - I've missed being able to have a good old chin wag with you all!

I'm Baaack!

Woo-Hoo! Finally, I'm back online!

I moved house two weeks ago, which was completely stressful - and moving house meant we we had to wait for re-connection to the Internet. The Hub came, the man came to connect us - it just seems BT didn't think to connect us on the day they were supposed to.

After three hours on the phone to BT and being passed around departments, which went from a call centre in Wales to a call centre in India and back again, we were finally told that they didn't realise we wanted Broadband (even though we ordered it, had a Hub delivered and a man come round to connect us!)
So, they then told us to wait a further 10 days for connection. Which made me want to actually scream, but the adult I am have used this time to catch up on reading books, hang out at Waterstones, sit in the library and write and catch up with friends.
We should have been connected this coming Monday, but I just tested my laptop (for the fun of it), and look - I'm on - it's working! I may go off again, but for now, I'm on!

I really, really can't wait to catch up with blog world - it's been too long.
I have so much to tell you, so I'll blog again soon. (That's if BT don't realise I'm connected two days earlier than scheduled and switch my Broadband switch off!)
