Packed Up

I have been moving house ALL DAY today.
I'm so tired and sore.

I've been so laid back about the whole thing, thinking we had a whole week to move in slowly - then I realised that actually as I work in the day and Gav works in the evenings it meant that I would be the one moving as Gav doesn't drive, so there was no way I was going to be able to carry all the heavy things on my own... such as - my huge book cases, my big hamper box full of handbags, the TV, microwave... the list goes on!
So I had to take today off work and Gav and I did the bulk of it together. I do actually quite like the new flat. It's very quirky, has lots of character and the things inside it are mostly brand new, like the beds, doors, flooring - so it feels nice. I've got a couple more car loads to do (I got to a point tonight where I just gave up). I have no idea why I have sooo much stuff.

** Don't know when I'll get to post again, as I'm having to go through that whole setting up the landline and broadband thing again - God, I hate moving house! **

Look What I've Won!

Oh my gosh, I'm sooo unbelievably excited. I've just won a signed copy of lovely Phillipa's new book It Should Have Been Me.

Thank you so much Phillipa, I really can't wait to read it.

Free Theatre Tickets!

I'm all for getting kids involved in theatre and I'm excited to hear of this new scheme for anyone under the age of 26. Theatre's up and down the country (I know most of the ones in Manchester) have signed up to it. They are offering free tickets to anyone under the age of 26 (damn, I'm too old) on a weekly basis.

And anyone interested in getting involved in theatre in any way. Check out this site:

Blah, Blah, Blah!

I didn't have a great day at the day job today. Rushed home, packed more things, took things to the new flat. Blah, blah, blah!
It felt so strange being there and I didn't like being there on my own, it felt a bit creepy. I hope it's not haunted.
Mr Sally seems to think it was creepy because none of my things are there yet. Hopefully he's right.

Nice news: I bumped in to an old friend this morning. I was only thinking about him the other day, wondering what had happened to him. And there he was as I was waiting for my morning toasted tea cake to err toast!

Right, off to make food before Mistresses starts!

My Playwriting for Beginners class tonight was FAB. They all did the homework I set and they are a lovely bunch. I'm having so much fun teaching this, it is after all my favourite subject.
And it's inspiring me to write my next play. As I was waiting for the class to start I started writing notes on my next play. I've had the working title of The Underdog for ages, but tonight as I was planning bits, it all changed and the new title is called: Wife of Brian.

Ooh, I'm excited about this one!

Mini Break

A few pics taken from our four beautiful four days in the Lake District. We can't, can't wait for this place to become our home.
We had an amazing time!

Half-Way House

Well, I've half moved to my new place - this means that my books are there and that's pretty much it!
The place is actually quite nice, I've just moved too many times in a year and I've had enough of it!
We don't actually have to be out of this flat for a week, which is why I'm being so lazy about the whole thing. It gives me a week to slowly pack and slowly make the new place feel like home.

New landlord seems nice, even though he's just sent me a message to say that the three cheques I gave him less than an hour ago are nowhere to be found, he thinks he's dropped them in the street! BRILLIANT!

I hope this new place brings us more joy than the one we're soon to be leaving behind.

Dream House!

Mr Sally and I are back from the Lakes.
I had such an amazing time and we found our dream house... and it's in our price range - well a bit more than we hoped, but it's our DREAM HOUSE! Hidden with trees and so much land and - I LOVE IT!
Anyway, we have to sell Mr Sally's house first and pray that nobody else buys it before us.

And tomorrow, tomorrow I move to Salford. My heart has been left behind at the Lake District and I have not been bothered to pack on single item today.

Mr Sally keeps telling me it's only a temporary home and the next time I pack up and move will be to move to the Lakes... so with that in mind I'm off to bed as I need to get up EARLY and PACK and move in to a little flat. I'm sure I'll feel excited tomorrow. Outside Beatrix Potter's dream house - Hill Top Farm

Big Move!

Mr Sally and I went to Beatrix Potter's house today... well we've spent our week driving around and around looking at suitable places to live (in the Lake District case, this means most places we've seen!) Anyway, we stopped off at the house and it was gorgeous.
Although, have to say - £6.20 t0 get in to a house that was full of people and kids running around was a bit steep. Crikey, we probably spent ten minutes in the house. And it was so dark because Beatrix didn't have electricity and they closed the shutters for fear of things in the house fading in the sun light - I couldn't see much! A National Trust member had to shine a torch on a painting for us to see it!

I'm glad I went in though. The garden was lovely and it was nice to have a peek inside history, in to a world of a writer I have admired since I was a little girl.
I almost bought a book with her letters in, then I remembered I bought a book of Charlotte Bronte's letters and I've still not finished it!

Anyway, having a lovely time at the Lakes. Mr Sally and I are mega serious about living here. As I'm driving around the beautiful, gorgeous place that is to be my home hopefully by the end of this year, I can't quite muster enthusiasm at the fact I'm moving to Salford on the weekend. I know it's going to help save money and help fund our HUGE move, but still - I wish it was here I was moving to on the weekend and not there!

I can't wait to live here, honestly I can't.
It just feels right.

PS: Erm, I've had a couple of pints by a huge log fire, hence the ramble!

From the Lakes!

We are having a GORGEOUS time at the Lake District. Our room over looks the lake and it's stunning. Don't want to come home!

Lark Rise to Salfordville!

Look at me up bright and early - oh yes, no more staying in bed and missing half the day for me, oh no!

I've got so much to do.

I'm off to Salford in a bit to have a look around the shops and to print some work, oh and ok to also have a little drive past our new pad, which we'll have moved in to this time next week - eek!
Mr Sally and I are off here tomorrow. I can't wait.

We were going to stay in Phillipa's beautiful cottage - but it seems someone beat us to it! Maybe next time.

Oh, I actually can't breathe with excitement.

Join The Fun!

My classes start tomorrow and I'm so excited.

I've just spent this afternoon doing lesson plans, printing intro sheets etc and I'm really looking forward to it.

My lovely friend Paul was busy teaching at Sunshine Studios this weekend and says it was a brilliantly busy place, his class was a huge success as well. He's a very inspiring person to be around, so I'm sure everyone learnt so much from him.

I'm not sure how many I'll have for each class though. If everyone turns up that's expressed an interest in joining then we're in for a fun-filled night. If not, it could just be me sat on my own talking to myself about being a writer/actor!

It's nice working for myself too. I usually teach for other people's theatre school's etc, so this time it's my own world and I'm excited to see where this journey takes us. I have HUGE plans and projects for the classes as I really want everyone to get something valuable out of them... we'll see. I suppose it'll all depend on tomorrow and who turns up.

I'm also feeling inspired by planning these classes. And I'm busy writing my new play:

I'll be sure to let you know the events of the evening!

Listening to Loraine Kelly!

I read Loraine Kelly's column yesterday where she told us about a fab new programme on BBC 3 called Being Human.
Anyway, last night - after my film had finished I was flicking through the channels and saw it was on.
Mr Sally went to bed as he had to be up really early and I said I'd just watch a bit and wouldn't be long. I didn't actually realise it was a 60 min episode.

Oh my God, I was hooked. What a great idea for a programme:

"Being Human – just a regular flatshare… for a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost Monday 18 February 2008 at 9.00pm on BBC Three"

Great cast, great writing and I loved it. I watched it right through to the end and I'm desperate for more.

Oversleep - Central!

I had a couple of glasses of wine last night and ended up watching my fave film Miss Potter all on my lonesome whilst Mr Sally was busy putting bread on the table.
He was up mega early this morning for a really early show, so I did wake up with him and I did intend to get up when he left and make the most of my Sunday... I fell asleep and opened my eyes at 12:04pm.

I'm still in shock. My day has actually gone. Farewell Sunday, we could have had much fun together, but it seems it wasn't meant to be!

I was just sat here thinking how we've only got one week left in this gorge pad until we move to Salfordville and how I'll miss the place - then right on cue downstairs popped their music on boom, boom, boom... God I hate them. So, actually I can't wait to move.

My friends and I have decided to do a car boot sale and think that as well as having huge amounts of giggles on the day 'matching bum bag's at the ready!' we'll also make some spare cash, which we could all do with.
So with the big move looming, this is a perfect time to put things to one side to flog at the boot sale, except - erm, well I can't seem to part with anything. I need to get tough and ruthless, but God everything I own is either really lovely, may come in handy for the future or really sentimental.
Nope, I don't think I have one item I could possibly sell. Oh, this is going to be tough.

Happy Day of Love to all. Hope you're all having a day filled full of lovely things.

I'm having a gorge day... I actually hate Valentines day - waste of money - blah, blah, blah. Although Mr Sally and I have always made the day special for each other. We've stopped buying silly teddies etc, and instead end up buying each other something we know we want.

We've made a special effort this year as we had a bit of a bad year last year and as this year marks our 'fresh start year' - we've been ever so soppy and lovely on this love-filled day!

I got a gorgeous card - where he'd written almost an essay on how much he loves me and how I'm his best friend and soul mate... ah, very sweet.
I was then presented with the BEST GIFT EVER!
A leather satchel. Right, so you're all probably thinking, 'What?'
For as long as, well forever I've wanted a leather satchel and I've admired my lovely friend Melanie's every day in work for yonks.
He went all over town yesterday and found me the perfect one, it's gorgeous and I can't wait to fill it full of writer and teaching things!
Inside the satchel was a huge bottle of Dior perfume too, as he remembered I'd admired it months ago...

What did I get him?

I bought him a Sony digital camera, with a note saying it's about time we made some new and happy memories together. He was chuffed to bits with it.

(I wish I could post pics, but blogger is being a bit anti-photo at the moment.)

Mr Sally was going to take tonight off work and take me out, but I said I'd rather he worked and had an extra day off in the Lakes next week. Anyway, he's managed to get the week off (apart from Monday when we're both working). So I'm happy.
Actually, as it happens he's managed to get a few hours off as he's not working the show - just did the fit-up and doing the get-out later - so I'm busy making him a nice meal.

Wishing you all lots of love xx

Finally Friday!

I'm so happy it's Friday - and not only just Friday, it's end of term -which means a week off work for me!
Mr Sally is whisking me off to the Lakes next week and I'm so excited. A little break is very much needed at the moment.

I have a weekend of lesson planning planned and I can't wait, first classes are on Monday - fingers crossed for a good turn out!

Right, a bottle of beer is needed!

We've found a new pad!

Gav and I went to view one tonight and we'll be moving to Salford.
It's not as swish as the one we're in, but I hope it comes without the problems we've had since day one here.
The street it's on seems nice actually, I'm just looking forward to leaving this place behind and starting a fresh.
And then I can actually enjoy planning my big move with Mr Sally.

Stressed is not the word at the moment. Honestly, I need a break and fast!

Not Bad!

OK, I've changed my blog again and quite like this template. We'll see!

I'm off to view an apartment tonight and then do a bit of a food shop - I'll blog properly later x

Wednesday, 11 February 2009

I don't even like this template... Oh, I'll have to find a new one tomorrow. What made me think this one was nice? I have no idea.

Erm, I've changed my template AGAIN and wish I hadn't now as I've AGAIN deleted everything in my side bar! I'll have to sort it tomorrow, it's getting far too late to be faffing!

Ooh, good news - Mr Sally has announced that he has next week off as I do (I get half terms off work).

A whole week in the Lakes, I'm such a lucky lady! I can't wait!! x

The Big Freeze

It's been a day of freezing cold weather, busy day at work, walking round town after work, meeting Gav for a bit, meeting Mr Sally and enjoying a romantic chippy tea on a FREEZING COLD brick wall outside the theatre and home to pay bills!

One thing on my way home did make me stop in my tracks though. I bought a coffee with Mr Sally and ended up having to drink it on the way home as he had to get back to work, so I was just walking to the main road and just noticed a homeless guy in a sleeping bag and he was sitting under a street lamp so he could have some light to read his book.
It made me stop in my tracks because it was FREEZING and I had this coffee in my hand and just felt terrible. So I gave him the coffee and he was so thrilled and I felt bad all the way home, thinking of all the stupid things I moan about.

I moan a lot about the apartment I live in... because I hate the lettings agency - but God, I have nothing to moan about. I have a roof over my head, I have a cosy apartment and I can make a hot drink whenever I want.

God, I feel horrible!

Take a Class!

My new classes are starting next Monday and I can't wait. It's taken ages to organise and I'm so excited!

Monday 16th Feb @ the FAB Sunshine Studios

Email me at if you want to join in or have any questions!

Monday, 9 February 2009

I had a lovely weekend.

The hotel in Chester was FAB - here's a pic of me and Mr Sally being two drunkards!

Sunday we met my cousin Dane's baby for the first time. Baby Noah.
He is absolutely beautiful. I had hoped for a million photos of me and Mr Sally cuddling him but he had belly ache and cried a lot. Bless him. So we got this one at the end with all of us together.
It was great to catch up with my family, even if the boys spent the afternoon watching football!
We couldn't help but feel a little broody leaving him behind.

Uncle Geoff, Me, Mr Sally, Mummy Laura, Baby Noah, Gav, Joel

Dinner Guest

My lovely friend Dan came over tonight for a catch up and a meal.
I haven't seen him for a year and a bit as he's been working in Vietnam.

Dan and I go waaay back - since uni and we both worked at the theatre together. We've just been sat reminiscing about old times and can't believe we've known each other for 10 years.
Dan is the guy who introduced me to the Lake District by taking me on my first ever camping trip a few years ago. He's also the guy who pushed me in to doing stand-up by making a bet with me, and was there cheering at my first gig.

I made us a spag bol tonight although my spaghetti was a bit tough!

He'll probably be swanning off to work somewhere else exotic again soon, so we've just made a pact to make lots of time to catch up from now on.
Mr Sally was gutted to have missed him as he's in work, so I think we'll have to do a drinks and comedy night soon.

I've loved listening to his Vietnam tales and he's just listened to my tales of 'Sally-Ville.'
'... So, yeah it's been a bit of a crazy year.' I just said.
'Sal, your life is always crazy.' He said giggling.

And I think he's right! This is us 10 years ago at a trip to Alton Towers. I'm bottom right, Dan is next to me in the white top.
This was a trip he organised for my birthday and I remember we had loads of laughs that day!
It was really good to see him tonight.

Shop Heaven!

We had to get back from Chester early today as Mr Sally had to be in work. So I went shopping in Manchester as I haven't been out for a good shop for AGES!
Bought some lovely H&M bits n bobs then met Mr Sally for a drink and a pizza in between shows.

I've also been buying my cousins baby, Noah some bits as we're all going to meet him for the first time tomorrow and I'm so excited. I can't believe how much fun it is shopping for tiny babies... everything's so cute!

I also picked up a copy of Mean Girls on DVD as it was only £4 - and I've always wanted to watch it.
Mr Sally is working until late tonight, so I'm off for a bubble bath, face pack and then DVD - perfect!

Faulty Towers!

Well, the night at the hotel started off very, very funny!
We checked in... walked in to our room, two single beds, ok fine - we could live with that. Then the handle of the bathroom door fell off in to Mr Sally's hand. Then we realised we only had one bath towel to share between us!

So we went back down to reception and Mr Sally placed the door handle on to the reception desk.
The receptionist gave us a lovely new room with one huge bed and all door handles were in place!

My gorgeous best friend and Leah and her hubby-to-be Mani came to the hotel (as they only live up the road)! We had drinks, chatter and giggles until late in to the night.
Leah also brought me a gift - it's an outfit from India that I have to wear for her Indian wedding in June. It's gorgeous and I'm so excited.
I'm a bridesmaid for her traditional wedding... bless her, she's busy planning two weddings. June is going to be a busy and exciting month, I can't wait.

We're busy planning her Hen do. It's going to be a civilised night of high tea, pamper afternoon and evening drinks.

I have a gazillion outfits to organise!

Last Minute Break

Mr Sally and I will be staying here tonight!
My friend Melanie booked it and then ended up not being able to use it, so we've decided very last minute to go.
Tomorrow, hopefully we'll be able to have a little look around Chester, Mr Sally has to get back to work though so we won't get long.

Right, I'm off to pack!

Onwards and Upwards

Crikey, three posts in one day - you lucky, lucky people!

Forgot this other bit of news...

I have decided to resign from my position as writer in residence at the Salford Arts Theatre.
As much as I loved working for them last year, I just feel that this year I have lots of other things going on with my classes and especially as I hope to have moved by the Summer - I just couldn't commit to do it again this year.

But I do thank them for their belief in not only my writing but also in me and I'm very proud of the work I produced there last year.

Onwards and upwards now... and I'm excited to see where this year will take me!

What a Laugh!

I'm a HUGE fan of Michael McIntyre - he does make me chuckle. Anyway, Mr Sally bought me his DVD today as a little treat - ooh, he is a thoughtful one sometimes!

So we're snuggling up to watch it later and I can't wait. I'll let you know what it's like. I'm SURE it will be HYSTERICAL. Apparently this DVD was one of the fastest selling stand-up DVDs this Crimbo and he made over a million squid!!

I haven't done any stand-up gigs for ages - years now actually. And although I do love writing and performing comedy, I don't think the stand-up world is for me. But I'm glad I tried it and I had much fun - but I'm much happier sitting back and enjoying the professionals entertain me these days.

Waiting Game!

Erm, just cleaned the apartment as we were supposed to be having people round to view it and guess what? They didn't show and they didn't call. So rude... but at least the apartment is nice and sparkly!

My agent emailed today to say he'd received my opening chapters and he'll be in touch soon. Oh flippin heck - I'm so impatient, I hate having to wait.
Need to take my mind off it...

Ooh, my best friend Leah has been in touch about her hen do. It seems we'll be having a posh afternoon of high tea, a pamper sesh, spot of shopping then back to hers for drinks! I'm so excited.
I can't wait to be a Bridesmaid... I'm now on the Bridesmaid Bingo-Wing diet!

Wednesday, 4 February 2009

Busy Bee!

Eek, my play writing and adult drama classes are in high demand - which is great and I need to now get organised and sort out the course plan. It's all in my head, I just need to get it on paper so that I can have it ready for the students on the first lesson. Very exciting though.

A fantastic company got in touch with me recently about promoting and holding my classes - I spoke to them today and they've offered me a fab package, one I'd be stupid to turn down, which I'll tell you all about as soon as everything is set in stone!
Just met Mr Sally in town for a gorge Italian meal before he was due back at the theatre. We're excitedly planning another trip to the Lakes in a couple of weeks time. I actually can't wait. Wish I could click my fingers and be there now!
So it's a busy time - but very exciting!

Tuesday, 3 February 2009

Here, There and Everywhere!

Back at work today - it wasn't too bad though. Had to dash for a meeting after about some freelance work for another company I do bits and bobs with. Anyway, some very exciting projects with them coming up.

Met up with Mr Sally after the meeting for a quick coffee before he had to head back to the theatre. We're excitedly making lots of plans at the moment, which involve selling up and a move to a place I've wanted to live for, well for ever!
I'll keep you posted about this, but I'm so excited at the moment.

But before we do that move, Gav and I are having another 6 months in a new flat and waving bye bye to this one. This apartment is lovely, but I hate the lettings agency with a passion (did I ever tell you the stolen camera story?!!)

So it's all go and it's all exciting.

Monday, 2 February 2009

Bubble Bath Bliss!

Erm, had another day off work today... honestly nothing to do with the fact it had snowed! Just still feeling poorly.
Much better tonight though, so I'm back in to work tomorrow.

I have absolute nothing of interest to tell any of you as I've been ill and not spoken to the outside world for yonks!
Ooh, classes are almost ready to launch - just waiting for a few things to confirm and I'm ready to go. I'm really excited and have had loads of emails off people wanting to join, so all is good on that front.

Right, I'm off for a bubble bath whilst Mr Sally makes my tea.

Hope you've all had much fun in the snow - I'm jealous!

Sunday, 1 February 2009

Let it Snow!

It's snowing!!!

I love the snow! It's coming down thick and fast.

Having a lazy weekend - I'm staying in all day and having a film day.

I bought Juno and Miss Potter yesterday, so I'm going to pop them on in a bit. Mr Sally and Gav are both off today, so I'm sure they'll be delighted with my choice of films!

And maybe we'll get to make a snowman tonight!!

Anyone else had snow?
